Rep underground
Audacious. Raw. Electrifying.
Rep Underground is The Rep’s new second-stage performance series, a home for daring artists and stories that thrive just outside the mainstage spotlight. Designed as a space for thoughtful risk-taking, Rep Underground centers intimate work that challenges expectations, amplifies new voices, and invites audiences into closer conversation with the art.
Rep Underground exists to give artists room to explore, audiences the choice to lean in, and The Rep the freedom to expand what our theatre can be, one bold story at a time.

Rebecca is bold, brash, and incapable of keeping her darkest stories to herself. Stacy is quiet, sheltered, and captivated by Rebecca’s fearless honesty. When Rebecca tries to “help” Stacy at work, their lives spiral into chaos: a borrowed car, a boss in a coma, a missing husband, and a string of accusations neither saw coming. What begins as meddling turns into a darkly comic unraveling, forcing two wounded women to confront their pasts, and each other.

Dad's an architect; Mom rushes to pack lunches and pour cereal; their daughter and son are bright, wise-cracking teens, appearing to be a typical American family. And yet their lives are anything but normal because the mother has been battling bipolar disorder for 16 years. Next to Normal takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family's story with love, sympathy and heart.

Lonely and unapologetically bored, Mildred calls 911, not for an emergency, but for company. Instead, she gets two deeply flawed EMTs who are far more in need of saving than she is. What begins as an awkward house call spirals into a sharp, darkly funny exploration of ageism, identity, and the choices that shape our lives in this wickedly warm comedy about connection in the most unexpected places.
